For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name, but not the e-mail address (where possible).
We collect only the domain name, but not the e-mail address of visitors to our Web page.
The information we collect is used for internal review and is then discarded.

With respect to cookies: We do not set any cookies.

If you supply us with your postal address on-line you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address.

Confidentiality

It is the policy of the Battered Women’s Project, Aroostook County’s Domestic Violence Program, to hold confidential all communications, both oral and written, made by or about people using services and staff, volunteers, students and board. Personal information, e.g. employment, residence, names of family members, etc. of people using services, staff, volunteers, students and board are to be kept confidential.

It is required that all staff, volunteers, students, board members, shelter guests, shelter residents and support group participants agree to this confidentiality policy.

Exceptions for Release of Information That Do Not Require Consent

A. Communications between or among staff about a person using services for the purposes of coordination of services for that person.

B. Where a medical emergency exists and the information from the file is required and the resident is not able to authorize the release, information limited to the medical emergency will be disclosed to the medical institution treating the individual.

C. All Battered Women’s Project employees and volunteers are mandated reporters in accordance with Title 22 MRSA, 4011, State of Maine Child Abuse Reporting Laws.

D. Where a staff member or volunteer has reason to suspect that an individual using services presents a serious threat of suicide or homicide, a report must be made to the appropriate authority.
